Get to the secret Netflix menus and start watching

Netflix has nearly 14,000 programs you can watch from the main browser. As if that wasn’t enough options, there’s even more that you might not know about.

The number one streaming service has a secret menu that can be accessed through a variety of “secret codes.“

Accessing different categories from the secret menu is as simple as typing in the regular website URL.

If you type in www.netflix.com/browse/genre/(secret code), a new Netflix world comprised of thousands of titles is at your disposal.

Secret codes on Netflix can open a whole new world

There are enough secret categories to please any viewer. Categories range from ‘TearJerkers’ to ‘Slapstick’ comedies.

The secret codes are a great tool for viewers who spend hours browsing for the right show or movie. If you’ve ever watched anything on Netflix, you know each title is broken down into categories that can help a bit to find a genre you enjoy.

A great benefit of the secret menu is, it takes the usual genres and refines them even more. They are so specific, it’s difficult to not find exactly what you are looking for.

For example, if you want to watch a scary movie that features werewolves, there’s a code for that (75930). If you want to watch movies for children and family, there’s a code for that (783); in addition, this genre has close to 20 subgenres to choose from.

If you’re a Netflix nut, this inside info is need-to-know. You simply can’t be a pro at show browsing unless you unlock the hidden library.

The only downside is, it’s difficult to access this library using a smart TV or an Apple TV device. The secret categories typically work the best using a web browser like Google Chrome. Just browse, find a movie and save it to your Netflix “My List.” Then, fire up Netflix on whichever device you’re using, and call up My List, and there you are.

Alternately, you can use an HDMI cable or screen sharing software to cast to your TV.

Examples of secret Netflix codes

Using these codes is straightforward enough. Just point your web browser to “www.netflix.com/browse/genre/” followed by the numerical code for the sub-genre you want. For example, to find “Asian Action Movies” (code 77232) type in “www.netflix.com/browse/genre/77232.”

That little number at the end is the genre code, and you can pull up a lot of different genres just by changing it. Here is a list of codes we’ve found online for various categories:

  • 46576 – Classic Action & Adventure
  • 9584 – Spy Action & Adventure
  • 7700 – Westerns
  • 5507 – Animal tales
  • 67673 – Disney
  • 11177 – TV Cartoons
  • 32473 – Classic foreign movies
  • 1402 – Late night comedies
  • 10256 – Slapstick comedies
  • 10005 – Religious documentaries
  • 7018 – Political documentaries
  • 6384 – Tearjerkers

Just from this sample, you can see that there are several different sub-genres you won’t find from browsing through the main menu. If you want to see an extended list of these secret Netflix codes, they’re all posted on this site.

A standard Netflix plan is $13.99 per month. With 14,000 titles and thousands of secret programs, you’ll get a nice bang for your buck.

Happy binge-watching!
